{"id":371,"date":"2014-01-27T15:08:15","date_gmt":"2014-01-27T22:08:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/craft-blog\/?p=371"},"modified":"2020-01-07T00:07:48","modified_gmt":"2020-01-07T07:07:48","slug":"boxwood-wreath-tutorial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/craft-blog\/boxwood-wreath-tutorial__371.html","title":{"rendered":"Boxwood Wreath Tutorial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s how to make your own Preserved Boxwood Wreath, beautiful in Spring, but perfect for any season because it won&#8217;t lose it&#8217;s color, and embellishments can easily be changed for different holidays or times of the year.<\/p>\n<p>First, gather your materials.&nbsp; You will need: A <a title=\"Birch Wreath Form\" href=\"https:\/\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/birch-branch-round-wreath-p-677.html\">birch or grapevine wreath form<\/a> in your desired size (ours is a 16 inch diameter), 3-4 bundles of <a title=\"Preserved Boxwood\" href=\"https:\/\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/preserved-boxwood-p-477.html\">Preserved Boxwood<\/a> branches, a coil of <a title=\"Moss Wire\" href=\"https:\/\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/green-moss-wire-decorator-p-468.html\">moss covered wire<\/a>, utility scissors and wire cutters, and any decorative items you wish to use (we used a small birds nest and found some faux eggs to finish it off).<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Preserved Boxwood\" href=\"https:\/\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/preserved-boxwood-p-477.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-372\" alt=\"DSC_0859\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/craft-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/DSC_0859.jpg?resize=500%2C334&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"500\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/craft-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/DSC_0859.jpg?resize=500%2C334&amp;ssl=1 500w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/craft-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/DSC_0859.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/craft-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/DSC_0859.jpg?resize=600%2C401&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/craft-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/DSC_0859.jpg?w=1540&amp;ssl=1 1540w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/craft-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/DSC_0859.jpg?w=2310&amp;ssl=1 2310w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next, remove the boxwood from the packaging and use your utility scissors to trim off the thick stems, leaving branches about 6-8 inches long.&nbsp; <strong>Note:<\/strong> These are REAL preserved and dried branches of boxwood.&nbsp; You will lose some leaves during the wreath-making process.&nbsp; Be careful in handling the branches to minimize this, but overall it won&#8217;t damage the finished product.&nbsp; In making this wreath we lost only a small handful of leaves.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/craft-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/DSC_0860.jpg?ssl=1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-373\" alt=\"DSC_0860\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/craft-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/DSC_0860.jpg?resize=500%2C334&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"500\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/craft-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/DSC_0860.jpg?resize=500%2C334&amp;ssl=1 500w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/craft-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/DSC_0860.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/craft-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/DSC_0860.jpg?resize=600%2C401&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/craft-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/DSC_0860.jpg?w=1540&amp;ssl=1 1540w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.curiouscountrycreations.com\/craft-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/DSC_0860.jpg?w=2310&amp;ssl=1 2310w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next place 2-4 of the shorter branches together and use a 3 inch length of moss wire to secure them together, about an inch from the cut stem.&nbsp; Continue bundling the branches together until you have all of your cut branches in groups.<\/p>\n<p>Now use longer lengths of moss wire to secure the bundles of boxwood branches to your wreath form.&nbsp; Simply slip the moss wire under a few twigs on your birch or grapevine wreath, place a bundle of boxwood on top, and twist the moss wire firmly to secure.&nbsp; Trim the ends of the moss wire and tuck them under the bundle to make them invisible.&nbsp;
